Learning Japanese Lesson #2

Itadakimasu (hear it)

Translation (literal): I (humbly) receive (this meal)

Said before every meal by natives. Basically, "thanks for the food, let's eat!" If you have trouble with this one, just remember, "eat the doggy's mess."

Eat...the...doggy's...mess
I.....ta....daki......masu

Eatthedoggysmess
Itadakimasu
Eatthedoggysmess
Itadakimasu
eh, close enough.

Gochisousama deshita (hear it)

Translation (literal): It's been a feast

Said after every meal. It's really more like, "Thank you for the meal" or "I've enjoyed the meal, thanks." You can also say this as you leave a restaurant. I don't have a sounds-like phrase for this one. Wait, how about "God, she saw some ass...deshita."
