Blog:Wmluke/Our Media Sucks!
From www.ChopStork.com
Yes, it sucks. Bad.
Local TV news feels like a bad SNL parody: uncomfortably funny and harmless. Besides ratings, cable news lacks depth and vision. The talking heads come across loud, obnoxious, lost, and adrift. In the end, the-everyday, moderate, and meaningful issues are eclipsed by extreme, fanatical, and superficial waifs of the far Left and Right.
Print media is better, but they still seem to let little things pass like "What WMD? Where?" and "What was the SEC doing during all this?" and "Why can’t mad cow be quarantined?" (Hint: it’s a random mutation that occurs in all mammals.) As for the Bloggers, who believes those guys anyway?
The Daily Show’s fake news seems closer to serious journalism than the real stuff. The credibility it gives up with a leftward bias and outrageous humor, it gains back with a clear and consistent agenda: to mock, belittle, and shout WTF at the so-called real news. Similarly, Fox News does so well with it’s own die-hard viewers because of its own veiled but consistent agenda. Maybe the other guys should stop worrying so much about the myth of unbiased reporting and get an agenda (but be open about it) other than the pursuit of ratings. I would start watching again.
Finally, I don’t need 24 hours news. Perhaps the Internet will let us move on to quality on-demand journalism rather than crappy 24/7 crap.
