If you think MySpace is a cluttered hacked up ugly annoying takes-too-long-to-load disaster, but you kind of want to blog and do the social network thing and you’re too good for the ’stork, you might try Vox. I should go ahead and say I looked at it but haven’t actually used it yet.
It sounds like Vox is meant to be a MySpace/Friendster kind of thing that’s more blog oriented and as the laughing squid put it, “is more on a personal level, one to few vs. one to many.” And they supposedly integrate cleanly with other cool web stuff like flickr and youtube.
Blogging is fun again. With privacy features that let you control who views each piece of your blog, you’ll never have to worry about who’s reading. With hundreds of beautiful designs, you can spend less time designing your site and more time with the people you care about. Better still, Vox gives you seamless access to the web services you already use — Amazon, YouTube, Flickr, Photobucket, and more. The bottom line: Vox makes sharing your life with friends and family easy, entertaining, and safe.
Also, if you’ve ever wondered what our friend Nick does at work…well whaddaya know, here he is to tell us.
Update: I guess you could also consider Vox a Blogger (but better) + Friendster social networking + the cool plugins already included and integrated.

Nah-ah! Once again, Flickr is so cooooooool! Drag and drop pix onto a map in the organizr and voila, they’re geotagged.
You can link photos up to Upcoming.org events too…maybe we should start using Upcoming instead of evite.
Update: I geotagged the BYOBW pix. Now we can keep track of our gallavanting through the city. To quote Mr. Galewekitch (after he’s in the car and playing with the electric windows): This is so cool!

Flickr always seemed like a cool idea - store your pictures, share them with your friends, slick interface, etc. Especially for those of use without a wiki. So on Luke’s recommendation, I joined.
Not 10 minutes after I had started uploading some pictures, I got notification that two of my pictures had been tagged as someone’s ‘favorites’. That sounded pretty awesome - except none of my friends even knew I had a flickr account. Turns out that both of the pictures happened to contain my bare feet.. yes, I had been found by a foot fetishist.
It was a girl (supposedly) who had page upon page of male foot pictures. I don’t really know how to feel about it. On the one hand, no big deal; they’re just feet, and I am proud to be able to open a beer bottle with them. But on the other hand, it’s creepy. Someone out there could be scrutinizing any of our pictures for whatever they happen to *really* enjoy.
Aside from that, flickr has turned out to be pretty neat. I’ve learned to be more careful about what I put up for the public to see. After a few days of being posted, my most popular picture (by # of views) was, predictably, of girls kissing. Don’t bother looking, perverts, I’ve already deleted it.
