Dirty mouth? Dirty bum.

Sorbitol, used to sweeten sugar free gums and a known laxative, is linked to diarrhea in heavy gum chewers. Most U.S. gums use aspartame instead of sorbitol, so we’re ok. Or not. I chew Orbit gum. First ingredient: sorbitol. (And it has aspartame too). Sweet. Maybe this is why I poop all the time??? I’ve been chewing laxative after lunch.
Next time you see Vanessa and her shiny smile telling you about “that just brushed clean feeling,” think diarrhea.
The research was published in the British Medical Journal … aka BM Journal. Ha!
