Coolest washer-dryer ever

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007 by some dude

Our washing machine and dryer is so cool. I speak English gewd, cuz the thing is one machine - a washer and dryer in one. It doesn’t even have an exhaust hose. I have no clue how it works, but it’s so cool! When it’s spinning it whines like a turbo. It needs to be balanced though so it doesn’t it vibe itself (or the closet it’s in) to death. I’ll call the landlord tomorrow … dammit, that’s me. The thing is supposedly more energy efficient. The downside is the dry cycle is 2 1/2 hours.

Home sweet home

Aaaah, interw3b, how I’ve missed you so.

Laura and I are in our new (to us) house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So far Laura’s unpacked all her kitchen stuff (her new colorful Fiesta dishes make her very excited); we’ve put together a giant Ikea wardrobe (but need another one); we discovered my couch and big chair, which are supposed to go upstairs, don’t fit up the stairs (a crowd of us stood outside wondering whether we’d get the upstairs window back in if we took the whole frame out - we decided we wouldn’t); and I’ve started putting blinds up in the windows. That’s what I’m supposed to be doing right now, but I finally have the internet hooked up, so I’m procrastinating.

Out with the suburbanites, in with the artsy freaks.

Hey San Franciscans. Help these guys help keep the artsy fartsy fun atmosphere in San Francisco. SF is just plain good times. Help keep it that way. Help give slicky boy Newsom an opponent.

If you don’t care about providing opportunities for creativity and artistic expression, then at least consider the fun stuff like Urban Iditarod, Bay to Breakers, BYOBW, movies in the park, random friends’ comedy shows, various dorky gatherings, and the tons of music.

To drive the point home, I’ve been writing some random things. I’ll include a few here. These are some ideas on why or how you should nudge some greenbacks my way:

  • If you had a friend that had to move away from SF because it was too expensive, send me $20 per friend.
  • If you are an artist and never considered that the Arts Commission of SF represents you, send me $10.
  • If you or someone you know lost a car to being towed and you owed too many parking tickets send me $25 per lost car.
  • If you or someone you know was involved in an art space that was shut down by the city send me $37.
  • If you would like to make a few busses run on gasified coffee grinds send me 10 bucks.
  • If you don’t like that bow and arrow bullshit on the embarkadero send me 10 cents. (that’ll be a few hundred thousand dollars.)
  • If you think that our mayor needs to be challenged on issues involving the arts, too many cars and being intolerant to inovation and new ideas send me $20.
  • If you feel like you are disenfranchised and unrepresented send me $40.
  • If you feel like the green campaign that the city is force feeding SF is actually greenwashing, send me $10.

I remember five years ago when I first moved to the Bay Area, there were a bunch of cool little art and photography shops in SOMA. Now there are fancy shmancy condos all over the place. That’s no neighborhood. The photo shops may still be there, I don’t know—but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re close to being forced out.

Things I needed to find on the McMaster-Carr website today:

1. Shims (w/tabs)
2. Sleeve Bearings

Things I somehow managed to find on the McMaster-Carr website as well:

1. Trumpet-style Horns
2. Tampons

Oh Mondays, you’re always so unpredictable.
