The issue is commonly referred to as "net neutrality." I've gotten into more than one heated email exchange with The Google Guys (you met some of them at my party) over the pros and cons. You can find the congressional hearings on the issue online. The idea of telecom companies allocating bandwidth scares the hell out of me, but so does imposing regulations on a thus-far unregulated internet. Both sides of the fence have potentially horrific consequences, but each day I'm more convinced that Google knows what it is doing... even though google.cn is still sketchy as hell.

When you say Google knows what it's doing ... what is their stance? I'm not as familiar with the issue. Google.cn---is that the whole blocking sites cuz the govt says to thing? It's only for people in China right? I say they're operating in another country, so they should operate by that country's rules.
